People and Talent Manager

We are looking for a People and Talent Manager to join our fully remote company and handle all things HR and Recruitment. This is a great opportunity to join an industry-leading technology company at a time where we have big and exciting plans for the future. The successful candidate will have a significant role in recruiting the best talent for Calipsa, as well as supporting our employees with HR policies and developing our company culture. This is a real opportunity to be a key hire in the People and Talent function and grow and develop the department as we expand.

About the role

The successful candidate will have ownership and responsibility for People and Talent at Calipsa. Initially, you will come on board and get stuck in. From then, you will be able to think strategically about how the department can scale effectively to meet business needs. Working closely with C-level management, you will be responsible for talent planning and handling the whole recruitment process for a range of roles in the commercial and technical teams. You will be the point of contact for all HR queries in the company and have responsibility for creating and developing policies to maintain Calipsa’s reputation as a dynamic and progressive employer that is constantly developing its talent and providing the best culture.

We are looking for someone who is excited about scaling quickly and who can bring their experience and passion for people to Calipsa. Below is a general list of what you can expect, but the key thing here is that you have the opportunity to make this role your own. 


  • Responsible for managing the entire recruitment process for a global team.
  • Creating job descriptions and advertising opportunities in the relevant places to attract candidates.
  • Sourcing candidates for specialist roles. 
  • Managing the hiring process; particularly screening, interviewing and hiring and collaborating with line managers to manage candidates through the process. 
  • Ensuring Calipsa’s recruitment process is diverse and inclusive. 
  • Managing onboarding so new team members have every opportunity to succeed at Calipsa.


  • Become the go-to person for all people issues, questions and challenges in the teams.
  • Be the super user for the company HR system, Personio, to get the most out of the platform.
  • Build and develop relationships with employees within the organisation to encourage communication.
  • Think of creative and engaging policies that you can implement to support the calipsa team.
  • Update and develop the employee handbook and any other organisational information and develop policies so employees know what benefits are available to them.

What you'll have

  • 2-3 years experience working in HR, with knowledge of UK working laws and regulations and best HR practices. 
  • Experience working and developing remote cultures is a plus, but not a key requirement. 
  • Previous experience working in recruitment, either internally or as part of an agency.
  • The ability to create, implement, and communicate HR policies and practices.
  • You can prioritise effectively and work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • You enjoy taking ownership and responsibility for your work. 
  • You can build strong and trusting relationships with the Calipsa team and candidates in a  recruitment process to bring the best out of people. 
  • Experience in using and updating an ATS or HIRS. 
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • You are highly organised and able to set processes and deadlines and can effectively organise other team members.

Hiring process

  • Screening call with a member of our team.
  • A 45-minute interview with Calipsa’s CEO, to understand your experience and motivations. 
  • Presentation interview: we would give you a take-home task and ask you to present for 20 minutes to relevant Calipsa team members, and then open to a round table discussion.
